Senior Home Ministry

“I am HE who will sustain you”

            Isaiah 46:4

Peace Lutheran Church-New Berlin, Wisconsin takes God’s Word seriously when it speaks of the blessing of those with “old age” and “gray hairs.”  God’s loving care is to be shared with His children, no matter their age, condition or location.  This aspect of ministering to God’s people is very important.  Too often people living in senior complexes, assisted living and nursing facilities tend to feel left-out or isolated from family, friends, and sometimes from their Lord and Savior.

On Site Chapel Services:

The ministry staff of Peace Lutheran Church provides bi-monthly chapel services that offer the sharing of God’s Holy Word and the Sacrament of Holy Communion.  Members  from Peace often assist in the singing of hymns, leading prayers, Scripture readings and brief meditations at these services.

Personal Visitations:

Whether in their current senior facility, the hospital or another residential-care site, these precious children of God will continue to be visited and sustained in their faith.  This ministry is not meant to compete with anyone’s own pastoral care-givers or church body, but offered, should the need for spiritual care arise.

Family Support and Counseling:

As one’s family members grow older new ventures, along with questions about the future, often pose difficulties.  The staff of Peace Lutheran Church is willing to offer counseling and assistance in meeting some of those matters regarding proper planning for the future.  It has been proven that pre-planning for the death of a loved one, including the desires of that person, can be both a positive and helpful matter.

The Celebration of Life:

As a result of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, the Holy Bible tells us that as earthly life ends, so eternal life begins!  There is hope, peace and strength as another of God’s children enters Heaven and receives the “crown of life”.  Should you desire a church setting for the funeral, Peace will offer its ministry staff or church facilities for that worship service to observe the new life granted to that person in Christ Jesus.  A member of the staff will also be available to provide grief support and materials in the following weeks and months to family and friends.

Peace Memorial Gardens:

Peace Lutheran Church considers those who receive our ministry as true brothers and sisters in Christ.  As part of “our Christian family” these seniors may make use of our memorial gardens for internment of cremated ashes if they should so choose.  More information is available by contacting the church office.

Continuation of Peace’s Senior Ministry:

Peace Lutheran Church has established an endowment fund to ensure to continuation of our ministry of spiritual care to older adults.  Those impacted and touched by our ministry have the opportunity to see this ministry continue.  You can be assured that through Peace Lutheran Church’s “Endowment for Older Adult/Senior Ministry” your gifts will be used specifically for this purpose.  Gifts should be clearly marked for this purpose and sent to the address of Peace Lutheran Church found on this brochure.

Just as God has promised to sustain you, that promise continues for your children as well.  May His loving and guiding hand support you in sharing loving kindness with your loved one through our ministry at Peace Lutheran Church.
